SITKA BLACK TAIL DEER Choose between one of two location options for a 5-day/6-night adventure. This outfit recommends hosting Sitka Blacktail Deer hunters September through the end of December. While the season begins in August, early season the Sitka Blacktail Deer will be at higher elevations. September through mid-November Sitka Blacktail Deer are in the mountains and these hunts can be physically demanding, however, your chances of harvest are very high! Access is an important factor when hunting Sitka Blacktail deer anywhere in Alaska. Heavy mid-November snow will position the Sitka Blacktail Deer right on the beach and by late November (into December), Sitka Blacktail Deer - especially Bucks - will be leaner after the rut, dropping their antlers in mid-to-late December. Travel is relatively simple by booking a commercial flight (Alaska Airlines) to Kodiak, followed by an air taxi ($1000-$1500 per person, not included in package) to either of the camps provided. Parties of 3 or more stay in outfitter cabin from which you will venture out by boat. Parties of 2 or less will stay in, and hunt out of, a more remote cabin on Kodiak Island. Primary hunting method is spot/stalk, because calling is effective, but it also calls in the bears! Guide looks hard for 4x4 bucks with eyeguards which are the "holy grail" but encourages clients to shoot 3x3 with eyeguards. This outfit boasts 100% shot opportunity on Sitka Black Tail Deer and hunters should be prepared to shoot 300 yards. Sitka Black Tail Deer tags are over-the-counter and can be picked up anyplace you purchase your hunting license. One (1) buck minimum. Package includes lodging and meals. Hunting license, tag fees, cost of non-hunting companion and commercial airfare & air taxi to/from Kodiak Island are NOT included in the package. 5-Day/6-Night Sitka Blacktail Deer Hunt - $5800 MOUNTAIN GOAT Mountain Goats occupy remote habitat, therefore they are the least studied large mammal in North America. Mountain Goat's range is restricted to the steep and broken mountain ranges. Mountain Goats have been introduced to a non-native range on Kodiak Island where populations have expanded in recent years. Their preference for high altitude cliffs, along with their magnificent white coats, make them one of the most challenging and satisfying game animals on Kodiak Island! Although Mountain Goat hunts can be physically demanding, your chances of harvest are very high. This is a tough 10-Day hunt involving considerable climbing, so hunters must be in excellent shape and willing to pack a a reasonable amount of gear. Outfitter has scouted an excellent mountain goat area on Kodiak Island and has enjoyed a 100% success rate over the past years guiding mountain goat hunters in this area. Hunters have traditionally drawn every season, since the seasons have opened in the areas this outfitter frequents. Mountain Goat season runs mid-August to late-October. Mountain Goat hunts are committed from spike camps - accessed by boat or charter plane - used to access the more remote edges of guided areas. Upon harvest, hunters return to the main lodge where accommodations include comfortable guest cabins. Hunt includes transportation from Kodiak Airports, all lodging, meals, guides, meat/trophy care to the airport. Firearms, backpacks and sleeping bags can also be provided.
